GXMUCS Delegation Visit Columbia University and Temple University
May 1st to 5th, 2015, a delegation led by Professor Zhou Nuo, Vice President of Guangxi Medical University Dean of College of Stomatology, Professor Chen Wenxia, Deputy Dean of College of Stomatology paid a goodwill visit to College of Dental Medicine, Columbia University School of Dentistry, Temple University.
On the morning of May 3rd, the delegation was invited to visit College of Dental Medicine, Columbia University. Columbia University attached great importance to the visit by rendering a high-level reception. Present at the meeting were Professor Christian Stohler, Vice President of Columbia University Dean of College of Dental Medicine, Professor James Fine, Deputy Dean of College of Dental Medicine Professor Jeremy Mao, laboratory director. At the meeting, on behalf of the president of Columbia University, Vice President Christian Stohler extended a warm welcome to our delegation conveyed good wishes to conduct cooperation exchanges with Chinese institutions of higher learning. The two sides then exchanged views on talent cultivation, exchanges of teachers students, academic collaborations so on. They also reached consensus to establish friendly colleges planned to hold a signing ceremony recently with the purpose of laying a solid foundation for further comprehensive cooperation. Columbia University is a world-renowned research-oriented university a member of the Ivy League. Therefore, to establish ties with it will tremendously increase educational scientific research strength in our college.
During the visit, at the invitation of Professor Amid Ismail, Dean of School of Dentistry, Temple Univeristy, Vice Presient Zhou Nuo attended the annual opening ceremony of dental internship, promoting exhanges cooperaton between our two colleges. Since the establishment of friendly colleges between us in 2011, exhanges cooperation are on the rise with regular mutual exhanges of teachers students. Dean Ismail added that a goup of 4 postgraduates was about to conduct a one-week exhange to College of Stomatology, GXMU in order to further expthe depth breadth of bilateral exhanges cooperation. This visit has yielded fruitful result by enhancing friendship deepening exchanes cooperation with other colleges promoted the fulfillment of the target of “being internationalized cultivating elites ” the construction of internationalized College of Stomatology that gears to ASEAN nations, possesses regional advantages, intergrates clinic, teaching scientific research.
