New Year Address 2022
Dear faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends,
As we wrap up this year and usher into a new one, on behalf of GXMUCS, I would like to extend my seasonal greetings and best wishes to all of you, and also express my heartfelt gratitude for your extraordinary efforts throughout the past year under the new environment brought by COVID-19.
2021 marks the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the CPC and the first year of “the 14th Five-Year Plan”. Availing this momentum, we embark on a journey of new development. As we stand on the threshold of 2022, we look back with pride and satisfaction on this memorable year which has set the course for our future.
A Year of Record-High Achievement. This year sees our undergraduate employment rate increase to 95.4%, and postgraduate enrollment rate rise to 70.5%, which hit a record high in our college. Triumphant news keep pouring in. Our faculty members are the recipients of 2 first prizes in national teaching competitions. And 2 students are awarded first prizes in international dental student competition, 1 student takes the crown in national dental skills competition, etc. Furthermore, the accession to “Belt and Road” Medical Talents Cultivation Alliance organized by National Health Commission of China further expands our international exchanges and collaborations.
A Year of New Impetus. This year, 1 faculty member is elected as leading talent in science and technology innovation in national “Ten Thousand Talents Program”, and 2 faculty members are elected as vice directors in committees of Chinese Stomatological Association. The newly grant of Provincial Key Laboratory and the Guangxi Branch of National Clinical Research Center for Oral Diseases has injected new impetus for our scientific research. This year, we have received 13 grants from National Natural Science Foundation, Chinese Stomatological Association, Guangxi government, etc., won 16 national patents and 2 first prizes in medicine and health technology promotion at provincial level.
A Year of High-quality Development. For 7 consecutive years, we have been nominated as China’s Top Stomatological Hospitals. We set up a remote expert group of consultation to lead the region's dental health service. With the upgrading of Smart Hospital, we have obtained "5G+ Medical and Health Application Pilot Project" jointly granted by Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and National Health Commission of China. Strict measures are also taken to ensure the normalization of pandemic prevention and control to provide dental health for all in the region.
A Year of Devotion and Responsibility. Devoted to public services, we reach out to rural areas, communities and schools for dental health promotion, voluntary treatment, etc., ensuring high-quality dental service reachable for all. In particular, we innovate our ways for outreach service by producing a series of video and radio programs, thus disseminating oral health and benefiting all.
We have had a great year, but surely the best is yet to come. In Year 2022, both opportunities and challenges will lie ahead for us. “Profound changes unseen in centuries” are also brimming with “great opportunities unseen in centuries”. I am confident of a better tomorrow given our concerted efforts.
